We do not share this type of optimism, but only the one that attests for the idea that things can always be different, a Foucauldian type of optimism (“My optimism consists rather in saying: there are so many things that can be changed, as fragile as they are, more related to contingencies than to needs, more to arbitrariness rather than to evidence, more complex and temporary historical contingencies as opposed to inevitable anthropological constant” (Foucault, 1994/1981: 182)).
